Leadership

As the bright shining Sun gives its energy and ultimate source of power to our planet, our Sun, Hon’ble Dr. Patangrao Kadam Saheb was one such humble man behind the well-known Bharati Vidyapeeth Health Sciences, which is today, one of the largest and leading organizations in India. He has been the key guiding light behind the Bharati Hospital and Research Center Pune.

Our humble tribute to, Hon’ble Dr. Patangrao Kadam Saheb, a dedicated and dynamic leader with a vision for a better and brighter future. Like a seed which grows into a huge tree and starts branching out its roots, Bharati Vidyapeeth, established in Pune in 1964, has taken tremendous strides during the years, keeping itself grounded with Bharati Vidyapeeth Health Sciences. Dr. Kadam Saheb was deeply involved in the planning, establishment, development and progress of Bharati Vidyapeeth and its sister concerns.

Hon’ble Dr. Patangrao Kadam Saheb came from a middle class farmer family residing in a remote village of Sonsal, in the perennially drought-prone area of Sangli District in Maharashtra. He was the first person from his village to have passed the S.S.C examination. He joined Shivaji College at Satara, run by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, which was established by a renowned social reformer and educationist, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil. He was enrolled in the college under its “Earn and Learn Scheme”. It is here that the fine qualities of head and heart, which he is now known for, took root in him.

(Deemed to be University)

After that, Hon’ble Dr. Patangrao Kadam Saheb came to Pune in 1961, where he completed a one-year Diploma Course in Teaching. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and a Master’s Degree from the University of Pune. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Management by the University of Pune for completing his research on the theme “Administrative Problems of Educational Administration in 80s”.

His vision and ambitions are reflected in the constitution, which was submitted to the Charity Commissioner at the time of registration of “Bharati Vidyapeeth” as a Trust, wherein he had included “to establish our own University”, as one of the objectives of Bharati Vidyapeeth. His dream of the concept of deemed university came true when the Government of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission (UGC), accorded the “Deemed to be University” status to the 12 constituent units of Bharati Vidyapeeth on 26th April, 1996.

Hon’ble Dr. Patangrao Kadam Saheb was a philanthropist of repute. He established quite a few charitable trusts through which assistance of all kinds is given to needy people, particularly to the students of disadvantaged groups.

We will be eternally grateful for all his work in the Education and Medical field.
